Representative Office

A legal presence in Thailand for market research and coordination – without starting a company.

DDES Representative Office

Explore Thailand Before You Commit

Not ready to register a full company? A representative office lets your head office have feet on the ground in Thailand. You can research the market, inspect products, coordinate with local suppliers, and liaise with government agencies.

The catch: you cannot make money. No sales, no invoicing, no contracts. Every baht of operating cost comes from your head office abroad.

What you can

And Cannot Do

Allowed Activities

Market research, sourcing suppliers, quality control, coordination between head office and Thai partners. No direct revenue-generating activities.

Not Allowed

No trading, invoicing, or signing contracts with Thai customers. If you need to generate revenue in Thailand, you need a different company structure.
Corporate Filing

Setup Process

You need Ministry of Commerce approval, head office financial statements for the last 3 years, an appointed local representative, and proof of an operating budget. We handle the application, the translations, and the government coordination.

Timeline: 4-8 weeks. Annual renewal required.

Tax and Compliance Obligations

No corporate income tax – you have no revenue to tax. But you still have obligations: file an annual corporate tax return (showing zero income), withhold PND.1 on any Thai employees’ salaries, submit social security contributions if you have staff, and file an annual audit with the DBD.

Many companies assume a rep office means zero compliance. It doesn’t. You’re still a registered entity with reporting requirements. We handle all of these filings.
